Vyasa Puja Offerings 2026: Dhira Govinda Dasa
The following is the Vyasa Puja offering of His Grace Dhira Govinda Dasa.

My Dear Srila Prabhupada, My Eternal Guru, Our Vishwaguru,
nama oṁ viṣṇu-pādāya kṛṣṇa-preṣṭhāya bhū-tale śrīmate bhaktivedānta-svāmin iti nāmine
namas te sārasvate deve gaura-vāṇī-pracāriṇe nirviśeṣa-śūnyavādi-pāścātya-deśa-tāriṇe
Please accept my one thousand and eight prostrated humble obeisances unto your lotus feet.
I don't really know how to begin. You are so unlimited as a shaktyavesha-avatara, a great acharya in our Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya Vaishnva sampradaya and I am just sitting here, trying to stitch something together my broken words, wondering thoughts and shallow intelligence. But you have always accepted whatever your disciples bring, however broken, however small. So here is mine.
I keep thinking back to when I first joined as a bhakta, bowing down in the temple hall after morning sankirtana, while chanting prema dhwani..
jaya om vishnu-pada paramahamsa parivrajakacarya ashtottara-shata sri srimad HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Jagadguru Srila Prabhupada ki jaya |
ISKCON founder-acharya, BBT Founder Acharya, savior of the whole 'world' Srila Prabhupada ki jaya ||
This was during 2009 & 2010. Everyone around me was chanting "savior of the whole world, savior of the whole world" that was just the phrase, that's what everyone said. But something in me wasn't satisfied with it. I don't even know why. I remember actually thinking, why are we stopping at "world"? Srila Prabhupada is unarguably the savior of the upper planetary systems. The lower ones too. The middle ones, the whole universe!
So a few of us just started saying it differently. "Savior of the whole universe Srila Prabhupada ki jaya! We kept saying it that way for a long time, not really knowing why we felt so strongly about it. It wasn't scholarship. It wasn't anything I'd read. It just felt true.
And now, all these years later, when I see that the actual word Vishwaguru, guru of the universe has been awarded to you, by revered sadhus who owe you nothing, who aren't even your own disciples... I don't really have words for that feeling.
This title 'Vishwa Guru' is not new, it was already mentioned in Vedic scriptures, There's the fifth verse of the whole Sumadhva Vijaya among 1008 verses glorifying Sri Madhvacharya.
mukunda-bhaktyai guru-bhakti-jāyai satāṁ prasattyai ca nirantarāyai |
garīyasīṁ viśva-guror viśuddhāṁ vakṣyāmi vāyor avatāra-līlām ||5||
"For the sake of devotion to Mukunda, which is born only from devotion to the guru, I shall narrate the pure and exalted avatara-lila of Vayu, the 'Guru of the Universe' "
And it's not just some random poet who wrote this. Sri Narayana Panditacharya was the son of a great pandit named Trivikrama Panditacharya follower of Advaita Philosophy, who had actually debated Sri Madhvacharya himself, a serious debate went on for fifteen days and lost, and surrendered, finally became His Holiness Sri Madhvacharya's disciple, the celebrated 'Vayu Stuti' was presented by the same Sri Trivikrama Panditacharya. So this word, vishva-guru, guru of the universe, wasn't handed down from some outsider. It came from the son of a revered acharya whom Sri Madhvacharya had personally transformed. It came from our own Sampradaya.
In 2025, at the Maha Kumbh Mela, the 'Akhila Bharatiya Akhara Parishad' this ancient body, rooted all the way back to the eighth century in the history, the apex organization of India's traditional monastic orders awarded you the title Vishwaguru. First time in their entire history they've ever given that title to anyone. Not from inside ISKCON. Not something we said about ourselves. Given from outside, a prominent body, by people with nothing to gain.
And then, on the 21st of December 2025, in Udupi, at Sri Krishna Mutt, for the Sri Krishna Samarpanotsava, ISKCON Bangalore and Puttige Mutt together, honoring this. HH Sri Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji was there, the head pontiff of Puttige Matha himself, and he said something I will never forget that with Vishwaguru Madhvacharya and Krishna Himself blessing you with this title, and further mentioned it felt as though this whole Paryaya had become a "Vishwa Paryaya," a universal Paryaya. He said Krishna, being pleased with His devotee, Sri Krishna had given you His own crown (Kirita) in the form of this title 'Vishwa Guru'.
And there was more he addressed in Sanskrit, and as I understood him, he was saying that in this fallen age of Kali because of nonbelievers, Krishna doesn't come Himself, because of how this age is, so He sends His own devotees instead. First Sri Madhvacharya, then Your Divine Grace. When great devotees glorify and compare you with prominent acharyas like Sri Madhvacharya, it brings a great joy to all your disciples around the world. His Holiness also said Gaudiya Vaishnava samapradaya is Madhva Gaudiya Vaishanava Sampradaya, part of Madhva Sampradaya, which was not widely acknowledged in the past. Now the current acharya openly praising is such a heart filling moment.
What our own tradition knew about Sri Madhvacharya seven hundred years ago, and what a few of us were half-blindly chanting in 2009, the whole world confirmed in 2025. I didn't understand then why the word "world" felt too small. I understand now.
Savior of the whole universe, Vishwa Guru Srila Prabhupada Ki Jai!!
Srila Prabhupada, your glories are unlimited and it is the greatest Bhagya in all my entire existence with so many lifetimes to become your disciple (though lowly and fallen), for this jiva it's the greatest success. People have often various definitions for success, for me becoming your disciple is the immeasurable success for any lowly jiva like me could ask for. Thank you so much Srila Prabhupada. I'm eternally grateful and indebted to you, your Divine Grace..
Your eternal servant
Dhira Govinda Dasa
