The following is the Vyasa Puja offering of Krishna Prema Devi Dasi.
We’ve all seen them on YouTube. Instagram, TikTok, everywhere: bogus gurus. Self proclaimed spiritualists or ‘knowledgeable’ people who share so-called truth with such conviction, and yet so much uncertainty.
Srila Prabhupada is not one of those people. Srila Prabhupada is jagad guru. What does that mean? It means, master of the entire universe.
What Srila Prabhupada teaches is not meant for one type of person. It’s not meant for someone born in a particular country, in a particular body, or culture. Any semi-intelligent person who reads something from Srila Prabhupada, or hears something that he has spoken, will be able to differentiate between him, and the formally mentioned ‘gurus’; the plagued, the cheated, the curious insincere.
Srila Prabhupada is a pure devotee. What does it mean? We are all devotees of God. Most of us are slaves, hopelessly devoted to God’s material energy otherwise known as Maya. We are enslaved to the illusion that we are our bodies, our nationalities, gender, sexual preference, or likes, dislikes, or beliefs, despite the fact that they are quickly subject to change. But the pure devotee is someone who either having always been that way or having attained that state through kripa (mercy) or sadhana, (practice), is entirely devoted to God as He is. Someone so sincere that they want to see God.
Imagine being so pure of heart that you actually want to see God. And how kind God is, that once that want is the, He opens your eyes to be able to do so. Srila Prabhupada is more exalted and more important than I can decipher with my tiny mind. He is the ultimate person. He is so opulent. Physically, stunning. Sense of style, perfection. The way he talks. The way he reads your mind. His wit, his intellect, his love, his sharpness, his softness.
He’s perfect. He’s actually perfect. So wonderful he is, that he wants us to become perfect too. He makes it so easy for us. If we simply just attach ourselves to him…
